friendship

" friendship is never an obligation. walk an extra mile for a friend out of love and not because of the expectation of reciprocal gesture. give without remembering and receive never forgetting. it grows not in years but in essence. sometimes, it ends for no reason but simply run its course." - Eng

  1. Friendship is one of the things I value in this life. I don't have many but the few that I have, I make sure they stay in my life forever.

  2. thanks for sharing your thoughts Eng and the picture is so perfect for the words. I am with you that friendship should never be an obligation, and we should not see the giving and receiving as reciprocating otherwise it loses meaning and becomes like those "exchange gifts", but rather, friendship is such a great thing because it is a natural flow of sincere gesture of giving of love and care both ways, not only one to the other, otherwise there is no communal relationship that build, support, affirm and gently touches each other. Sometimes, friendship does not end for no reason, some just get too busy and too absorbed in their world to share the essence of friendship and see the reasons, and be sensitive to the needs of each other.

    Thanks again Eng.

  7. beautiful pix of these two young lasses walking down the road together, eng! and such words of wisdom ... a wonderful reminder for us all. yes, indeed - "give without remembering and receive never forgetting." easier said than done, because we are just human:) so i am grateful for this reminder. and yes, it is so true - sometimes a friendship ends for no particular reason, except that it has run its course, but there will always be wonderful memories to cling to, to make us smile in our twilight years ... and who knows, that friendship may miraculously be revived again:) coz life is full of surprises. thank you, eng, for this awesome post!

  9. thanks ladies and a lone gent.

indeed MJ, most often than not,it is easier said than done. it isn't because one gives more it doesn't give one the right to dictate the course it should take. i remember once i had a talk with a friend,..friendship, like any personal relationship, is like putting all your money on the table. i gave my all which is $100 bill and the other gave her $50 bill down to the last penny. it may not be equal in the great scheme of things but both gave it all...and that's all that matters.

don't keep records of all that you have done for it because at the end, it isn't what we have lost but what we have gained that makes it all worthwhile...good and sweet memories!

    1. great thoughts Eng, one great example is: we can never match God's gifts to us, but we continue to give back to Him in so many little ways we can, we never stop sharing to Him and communicating with Him, we never stop praying, as praying is our communication that bonds our relationship stronger to Him. Without the sincere gesture of communicating, of giving and sharing in our little ways, the passion lessens and so the relationship wanes.
