Life is More Than Just a Beach @ Torrey Pines State Reserve
Hiking and the ocean.....perhaps, for a lot of people, beach would always mean just the sand and the surf, however, for me, beach is a lot better if hiking is combined with it.
Trail on Top of the Bluffs Overlooking the Sea @ Torrey Pines State Reserve
Now, let me share with you my favorite place here in San Diego, where I combine two of my favorite activities to do, those are: hiking and be one with the waves. There are 8 miles of easy and well maintained trails here.
Hiking Trails @ Torrey Pines State Reserve
I say easy since there is not a lot of climbing here, the maximum change in elevation one can get is only 450 ft. To compensate for the lack of elevation, I combine several hiking trails that would make me go up and down several times making the total climb more than 450 ft. Though an easy hike, but this is my favorite place in San Diego, because after hiking, I can take a dip in the water and enjoy riding the waves with my boogie board.

Or even if I do not jump into the water, just listening to the sound of the waves is magical enough for me. Watching the tall big waves makes a splash on the land takes my stress away, however, sometimes, just watching the tall waves is not enough, I need to feel it and be with it. Up in the bluffs, however, it feels a different world. Passing through the tunnel of low lying chaparrals,

you may forget about the beach below. The Torrey Pine Trees are found in their natural habitat only in two places, here at Torrey Pines State Reserve, San Diego and in Santa Rosa Island, one of the islands of the Channel Islands National Park off the Santa Barbara Coast. The Torrey Pines were all over coastal California hundred of years ago, but human intervention and development led them to become the rarest native pine in the US.

Hiking here is not only an exercise for me but also educational. Torrey Pines State Reserve is after-all a natural geological and ecological museum.
Colored Sandstone Cliffs @ Torrey Pines
Sandstone formation, rocks, wind caves, sand dunes, erosion, faults, I think would be very interesting to see and observe even for those who are not into geology. The different formations of these well sculpted canyons due to erosion amazes me as to how nature wonderfully works, in so many ways!
One, there is the natural acidity of the rain because of the dissolved Carbon Dioxide, this acidity dissolves cementing minerals from rocks forming wonderful sculptures that only nature can create. Also, the presence of lichens contributes to the natural sculpting by releasing chemicals that dissolve some rocks.
Some animals also burrow deep into the soft rock allowing water to go through and cause erosion, forming another yet beautiful creation.
There are many other forces that contribute to the shaping of this beautiful landscape, and what beautiful way to study and learn about the forces of nature but in person, up close? And what is the best way to end the hike at Torrey Pines? Either you do it up in the air,
Paragliding at Torrey Pines
or down in the water.
Come, enjoy both worlds of hiking and the ocean here at Torrey Pines State Reserve. Not just a place for the locals, but also for the exploring tourists who wants to experience one of San Diego's best.
One Saturday morning he just looked at me and uttered the words, " Get up ny! Get up! The world awaits us..." I excitedly hugged him and asked, " Where to?"...He just smiled and said, "it's a secret...but I know you'll love it there..."
After a long drive he finally said, "here we are ny..." I hope you'll love this place as much as I do...With my eyes wide open and my mouth half closed I simply replied, " it is indeed a lovely sight"...
The birds were gleefully humming that day. Even the bees were so busy buzzing along. The flowers showed off their beauty...and yes he took my hand and said..."It's a beautiful Saturday Morning ny"...I just smiled and happily replied..." It is dear..it is indeed a Lovely Saturday Morning!"
in a chair by the window i lovingly gaze
to the outside world of time and space
fabric of scenes from long forgotten time
brought distant memories of yesterday's goneby
with dew of morning mist that haze my view
upon my window sill a steaming mug or two
i thought of those days when i was years and few
when life was simple and dreams do come true
as the sun rises to its vantage place
i can see the beauty it tries to express
in my cozy little chair by the window i look
its a beautiful sight to revere and uphold
as the dusk approaches it brings another light
not as bright as day yet impressive twilight
like a battered soldier, my soul longed for the rest
i shall see you again in day break in the same lovely place
This was originally titled " A chair by the window". There were days when memories of beautiful childhood creeps in and i just gave in to the inspiration of relieving it.
Life is full of challenges, and this time my husband and me face a very tough one. Michael my husband went home one day from work in the afternoon, he's bit sad and told me he had a talk with their boss at work and had a discussions regarding work. That day we went to my mother in -law to give her something, and when we are at the living room, Michael suddenly become so quiet and sweating and closing his eyes and holding his chest and he said he cannot breath. Mutti called the emergency doctor.
That happened almost a month now, the doctor said he has "cardiac infactus", they call it here or in Deutsch " Herzinfarkt". A heart desease that is very dangerous. Negative stress is not good to him, over fatigue and etc. The doctor gave him 5 weeks holiday to relax and to recuperate. Now at home again, we are all so happy. I am so thankful to God that he gave my husband another chance to live, a new life.... a second life.... God is really good. I am so thankful also that during those tough times, my in-laws helped us and did so much for us.
We went to Aschersleben last week to see " Landesgartenschau" rose and different kind of flowers exhibition or show in big garden. That was the first time Michael drive again after that incident. My husband is well now, and his with us, and that's what matters most now.
We would like to thank my dear friends here in Salitype Society for all your e mails, messages, prayers and well wishes to Michael, thank you my Salitype Family. You are really blessings to us from above. God Bless You All always.
It has been pretty hectic with me these past couple of weeks. I haven't got much time to do any photo shooting at all. I got this idea from one blogger and said i will do the same here. Just show's haven't got any new stuff to offer...lol!
It is always a pleasant surprise when your works were appreciated and noticed. It gives you that much needed lift that yeah you can do it. All of these wouldn't have happened if not for friends here in Salitype who serves as inspiration to me to try my hands in photography. I owe these to you, guys!
