of dragons and wings

as a child i loved chasing them tails and wings

i think nothing has changed, them cute creatures still fascinate me

just as they did twenty eight years ago...
and somewhere in this grown up brain of mine

i still dream of being smaller than them and riding

them...shimmering wings!

  2. amazingly, power ranger pal, i had the same dream as a little girl (what am i saying- i'm still "little" hahahaha!):) i would gaze with fascination and delight at these lovely, exquisite creatures and imagine throwing a rope around their necks (like the one around a horse's neck), hopping on their backs and zipping through the air as they fluttered their gausy wings:) i think dragonflies are so beautiful! i would spend many a summer day chasing them from grass tip to grass tip, from flower to flower... wherever they alighted. we neighborhood kids would have a contest to see who could catch the most dragonflies:) i never won, but man, i did catch a lot of them!:) at the end of the day, we would gather at the edge of this big pond near the playground and release our dragonflies. upon signal, we would throw open our plastic bags and away they would zoom, up, up into the air ... oh, i would imagine them cheering silently, "we are free! free! free at last!" then us neighborhood kids would clap our hands in delight at the sight of so many dragonflies rising up into the air as the sun sunk slowly in the horizon, and the air slowly turned damp with dew, and the fireflies, one by one, emerged from their daytime hiding places and began blinking, blinking, blinking on the edge of the grassy field like so many microscopic lanterns:) zen, your awesome dragonfly photo has transported me back to more simple, happy childhood days:) thank you. i need that sometimes. we all need that:)

i think once we forget our childhood, we rapidly grow old..

  3. As a child, I used to make circles in front of the dragonfly using my finger trying to mesmerize it.

It worked for most of the time.
