What If

dandelions,flowers,still life photography

what if the sun refuse to shine
the dew of morning mist shall lost its charm
what if the night fails to come
the moon and its stars will be forgotten in time

what if the rivers and lakes run dry
the snow capped mountains withers and die
what if the rain falls no more
the ground is parch and no greens at all

what if the flowers cease to bloom
all melodies in the world has lost its tune
what if the wind is there no more
to caress each leaf when its time to fall

what if the promise has failed to hold on to love
is there a balm to heal a broken heart
what if words were held and feelings locked
no poem left to stir the soul and soothes a dying heart

what if these wonders around me ceased one day
no sunrise nor sunset and no love to spare
what if we stop for a while and take notice of whats around
bask in the wonder of what we got before its all gone

This has been edited twice and with 2 different endings. This is the 3rd edition and i combined the two together to create one piece. I don't know if it works but i am hoping it does.

  7. as always, eng, your poem rang with lush, beautiful words ... such rich, picturesque language! i think the last two lines pretty much sum up the main message of this piece though: "what if we stop for a while and take notice of what's around ...
bask in the wonder of what we got before its all gone." this is the reminder that so many of us need in this hustle and bustle, crazy world we live in! sad to note that many people around us live the same mediocre lives day in, day out ... no time to wake up early in the morning and welcome the sun as it climbs up over the hills. no time to pay attention and bend low and smell the roses - or other flowers- that grow along the path to the workplace. no time to lay in the grass and stare at the huge ship-like clouds as they sail majestically across the sky. no more time to watch for shooting stars in the still of the night... or chase after fireflies ... or inhale the sweet smell of newly mowed grass, or the damp smell of the earth after a rainfall. no more time to skip stones across the ripplings waters of a river .. no more time to wiggle toes in the sand at the beach, as the waves gently mist our faces ... no more time:(

praise God for poets like you, eng, who take it upon themselves to remind us - through your words- of the more important things in life before it is too late. may God inspire you to write many more timely poems that you can share with us, your friends. another awesome piece, eng!!
