Uses of Bandana, Turban and Shawl

by: Sissy

Got a chance to take a pic of two Igorot women on our way to Mountain Province. They are lovely! I found out that they also have a way of making their bandana. Bandana to them is not about fashion at all. It’s part of their daily wears - protection from the weather (sunny or rainy days and even from dew!).

An accent or sometimes to cover something that shouldn’t be exposed! Hahaha

For convention attire

Helpful during travels to keep away from hair tangles and sticky feeling caused by the wind and sun

Display of diverse uses/style and be different from others

Awww soooo hot!!! Protection to avoid sunburn??? teehee :)

A shawl to cover the face in order not to be recognized at all? But i know her, she's the wife of our former CEO hahha

  1. I think these bandanas are much bigger than the ones I'm used to see. Those are great uses for them!

  2. hi Icy BC, thanks for dropping a note. Those are few uses of bandana, turban or shawl. Lotsa uses to think about, esp the shawl. Can be used as mini blanket while in travel, a belt, a beach upper wear for women, backpack, a sling bag, baby carrier and many more... :)

  3. Hi Els, you look so cute in your bandana, especially the B&W, so artistic, how did you do it?

By the way Els, my niece use bandana when she sleeps when we are on our hiking trips and we take shower at night kasi in the morning when we get up, we pack and go quick, she said, if she sleeps with bandana, her hair does not get messy when she wakes up. It's still very neat. bandana are also good to cover ourselves when there are a lot of mosquitoes. so diverse in its use.

My sisters sent me a couple of really nice bandanas from the Philippines and guess where it landed - on my living room glass table ! hehehehe it is so pretty and the design matched my decor so there you go- talking about the different purposes of bandana !

You're right Chay so many uses, not to mention the creativity of the owner that makes a bandana or shawl so useful. :)
