The Real Life Wonderwoman

Once upon a time in friendster days, I met this wonderful woman who taught me to love life even more each passing day. In our Salitype family, we call her Chay a.k.a Aligaga.

She is a fountain of youth and a real beauty! I keep telling her to share me her secrets for staying young and pretty.

Who can tell she has two beautiful grown up kids (and er, one adorable baby named Cottonball) ?
Apart from being a domesticated and caring mom,

she is a supportive and loving wife to her Big Guy.

Nope! She's not a typical housewife! She is an accountant by profession.
And guess what?!

She is also an aspiring nurse! Isn't she an epitome of a real life wonderwoman?

On my way to work this morning, I checked my FB inbox and I was so happy to hear read the good news! Chay just passed her NCLEX-LVN board yesterday! This calls for a celebration so here I am, celebrating a blessed life with my wonderful friend with the rest of our TSS sisters. :)

CONGRATULATIONS, CHAY! We, YOUR SALITYPE FAMILY, are so proud of YOU!
Cheers to your recent success and more blessings to come!

Strawberries

When I was young, I only get to eat strawberries once in a blue moon so I always remind my daughter how blessed she is because she can have stawberries anytime she craves for it. We are just 5-minute walk away from the supermarket that sells huge strawberries from Australia in a very reasonable price. I do encourage my girl to eat two servings of fruits a day. She has sweet tooth just like her dad, luckily we don't have a chocolate fountain at home to defeat the purpose of eating fresh fruits. :)

Our Home Garden

All photos are taken at the Home Garden in Hort Park, Singapore where we celebrated The Salitype Society's 3rd Anniversary last weekend. Since this place represents our love for nature and photography, we call this Our Imaginary Home from now on...

Welcome to the Imaginary Home Garden of The Salitype Society!

Red Dewels

I would like to thank Betchai for naming the yellow bird and everyone who left a comment at my MYM post. I will visit you back when I have more time to blog hop. Meantime, I will trouble you again for helping me to name this plant. Some of you who knows me very well are aware how much I love taking snapshots of the DEWels of nature. This one was taken at Bintan Lagoon where we stayed during our family weekend escapade in Indonesia. Unfortunately, this plant is not very familiar to me.

Bird of Happiness

Can anyone help me name this bird? Haha! Don't laugh at me, I'm very bad in naming birds.
I gotta learn because hubby's favourite subject for now are birds. He captured this one on a yellow bell tree down our block.

Birch House 1908

(click photo to enlarge)

Birch House is a heritage building along Dato Kramat Road in George Town, Penang. It was built to serve as the office of the tin smelting plant of Escoy Smelting, known in the late 20th century as Eastern Smelting. The 5.3 hectare site of the tin smelting plant is now developed as Penang Times Square, and Birch House is being retained as the headquarters of the developer, Ivory Properties Group following a RM2.5 million restoration work.

Birch House was built around 1908. It was named after E.W. Birch, the popular British Resident of Perak between 1905-1909, who was a moving force in the development of the tin smelting works in Penang. The plant itself was founded by Lee Chin Ho, who started it in 1897. Tin mined in North Malaya all the way to southern Thailand were transported to Penang for smelting. The roads around the smelting plant were named after tin mining areas from where the ore originated. Hence roads within the vicinity were given names such as Tongkah Road and Trang Road.

Watery Wednesday @ The Beach

Like Eng, I am very happy that my hubby is having fun with photography. Speaking of the unsung heroes of The Salitype Society (our husbands), don't be surprised to see more of their works here every now and then. We still have Doods (Tesya's bestfriend) and Khai (Betchai's hiking partner) to showcase their outstanding photos soon. Hey, sisters! Post your partners' works too! ;)

touched by an angel

why did you leave in a sudden

without proper valediction

i've longed for you to come

and lessen my heart's burden

it's been a lonesome decade

i have not seen your happy face

i missed you so bad

your surprise visit made me glad

Tumauini: A Land of Peace and Plenty

This is my birthplace.

I grew up playing in a wide open field with these weeds,

inhaled the most refreshing air every single day,

and lived the simplest way of life.

Camera Critters: Caterpillar

I found this caterpillar one morning in my sister's garden. Isn't it amazing how it clings snugly in the leaf upside down?

Food Trip Friday @ Swensens

With our household help, we get to enjoy eating Filipino food almost everyday. The supportive spouse however, gives in to our cravings once in a while. The challenge is, we have to find a place where our little girl would enjoy the food too. And so one weekend, we ended having lunch at Swensens while our household help enjoys her day off from the kitchen.

We started with clam chowder - baby clams, diced potatoes, carrots, onion and celery in a creamy soup served in a sourdough breadbowl. This alone almost made me full, but I just can't wait to eat my

baked stroganoff beef rice - delectable chunky beef slices sauteed in onions and cooked in brown rice, baked with savory rice and cheese. Yes, I love cheese - lots of cheese! ;)

Obviously, the little girl settled for the kiddie meal :)

And hubby had beef lasgna - juicy minced beef between layers of pasta and spinach, accompanied with tangy tomato sauce.

Since we had a FULLfilling meal, three of us shared with this strawberry super soda.

Happy Food Trip Friday Everyone!
