Business Matters and Motherhood

It was one of those mom and son bonding moments, I jokingly said to my eleven year old son, "Son dearest, please study hard because one day soon you just might find yourself without a career, unable to support yourself nor your future kids". The kid looked at me and exclaimed "mommy! no one knows what the future holds!"- I was left smiling and thinking to myself, this boy must be a genius in the making just waiting to bloom. I have to hold on to that thought and keep inspiring him otherwise he just might end up a loser. Motherhood like business has its ups and downs.

Enjoying Life's Precious Hours

Today I heard sad news about a friend's mom being sick. It makes me feel so lonesome thinking of my own mom who will someday soon be too weak to enjoy life's precious hours. Mother's day is around the corner and I am thinking of the best gift I could give my mom though I know nothing material could ever fully be enough to show her how much I love and cherish her. My friend's mom has  been diagnosed with CA and my friend needless to say is distraught beyond description. I offered prayers to heaven for her mom to feel as comfortable as possible and for a miracle to somehow take away her pains. My friend says years before they have been eyeing for Retirement Homes in Georgia where her mom could spend her days away from work with their dad enjoying the pleasure of ballroom dancing, cooking, watching the sunset, even enjoying a happy moment at the bar or simply walking along gardens.  I can imagine my mom doing aerobics, as well as being her artsy self. The picturesque lake Lanier she could enjoy while having breakfast or during a nightcap makes me feel glad. I wish she could one sweet day enjoy such amenities of a home at a community so well developed and planned by experts in the field of home and community building.

Blue Morpho Butterfly

Blue Morpho Butterfly

" May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond."

Home Sweet Home, Calgary

So many of my friends, former workmates, former classmates and playmates have moved to Canada where they are now happily based. Sometimes I wonder about relocating there too. I found a unique website that features houses for sale in Calgary that many of those dear to me could browse easily to search for the home of their dreams. A well suited place for each family is one where they have easy access to school and their workplace. Doing so could be a daunting task. Navigating the site I found one which suits the taste of a former workmate.

Pride of Madeira

Pride of Madeira Blossoms
Pride of Madeira blossoms are one of the flowers that I know which is more bluish when it is young, turns purplish at its peak, then, pinkish as the flower grows older before all the petals fall.

Bluish and Purplish Pride of Madeiras
( and maybe you can tell from my picture, I gained 10 lbs, and in 2 months I am seeing my doctor, I fear for his nagging, haha, I should lose the 10 lbs I gained to make my doctor happier that I listen to his words, haha! Just like my doctor friend here, Zen, who encourages us always to stay healthy!! )
Some Pinkish and mostly Purplish Pride of Madeira
Fellow TSS sister Zen thinks it is my pink powers that turn these flowers pink, somehow, knowing these blossoms, just like the CA sea lavender, despite I love pink, I do not wish them to turn pink, because pink for these blossoms mean near their end. :( If I could only freeze their youth, which is blue!

Being Fit and Eating Well

I just arrived home from a three-day seminar feeling exhausted yet fulfilled at gaining knowledge I could use in my profession. The gruelling hours of thinking though made me hungry all the time and the easy access to food in the hotel has ruined my well balanced diet. I ate unlimited amount of rice and the heavy sluggish feeling I am now experiencing makes me wish I should have consumed rice substitute instead of pigging out.

two eggs, a cup of rice and fried chicken I was able to devour in several minutes
right after reaching our convention venue

CA Sea Lavender at Del Mar

CA Sea Lavender
Each spring, this trail that connects Torrey Pines and Del Mar would explode with purple blooms, the CA sea lavender. It is always a joy walking in the trail surrounded by all these wildflowers. Not planted, not watered, reminding all of us that we are always in good hands for HE takes care of us and sees all our needs, just like these CA sea lavenders bloom always beautifully despite San Diego had been experiencing drought for more than 3 years now. Heaven sent fogs to them most morning, good enough for them to blossom.

Let Go and Let God

First and foremost, I would like to make it clear that I don't advocate divorce nor I encourage couples with problems to seek divorce. As a Christian, I do believe in the sanctity of marriage. In fact, it was the very reason I did my best to save my first marriage. I only thought about filing for an annulment (there is no divorce law in my country of birth) when I thought my ex is already a hopeless case.

After giving yourself an ample time of careful consideration and meditation about the endless list of pros and cons of divorce, go and make that decision that will eventually change your life for good. Is your partner deserving of another chance? Do you think it is worth giving your marriage another shot for the sake of your child/children? Have you come into that ultimate decision that it is time to let go?

Arriving into a decision to end a marriage is not easy. You have to be prepared emotionally, mentally, spiritually and also financially. It is not cheap to engage a divorce lawyer. You have to find a reputable and dependable law firm for your own peace of mind. Divorce proceedings can be draining both emotionally and financially.

When I finally decided to end my first marriage, the very first thing I did is to ask His forgiveness for breaking my marital vows. I surrendered Him all my cares and worries and said to myself, it's about time for me to let go. It was the best decision I have ever made in my entire life. God is a God of second chances. He is never judgemental. If you think you deserve a better life, let go and let God.

Of flowers and remedies....

Flowers, scented candles, a walk in the woods, the wind blowing on my face, the moon, sweet nothings and running after a dearest all make me smile. My mom likewise enjoys those activities minus her allergies. She would always remind me to water grandma's blooms and being a kid who only wanted to play all day I remember hating the task. I would grumble while spraying water on petals and leaves and had no care whether they were well taken cared of. But you bet! I loved playing with colorful petals! Getting my fingers to touch the velvety softness of roses and picking on periwinkles and tossing hibiscus in the air gave me tons of giggles and laughter. A cousin of mine loved joining me too yet could not tolerate the non-stop fun because of her allergy to pollen. She would momentarily have a blast then end up in the hospital getting treated for difficulty of breathing and itching.

Blue and More Blue

Looking Down @ Blue Mesa Badlands, Petrified Forest National Park
If there is one thing that made me so excited and giddy like a child this spring break vacation, was a hike at Blue Mesa in Petrified Forest National Park. First, just the mere mention of the color "blue" makes me excited for my dear blue loving TSS sister, Zenserly of The Letters of November. From the top of Blue Mesa, I can't help but be amazed many times over and over again by desert wonders.
