Being Fit and Eating Well

I just arrived home from a three-day seminar feeling exhausted yet fulfilled at gaining knowledge I could use in my profession. The gruelling hours of thinking though made me hungry all the time and the easy access to food in the hotel has ruined my well balanced diet. I ate unlimited amount of rice and the heavy sluggish feeling I am now experiencing makes me wish I should have consumed rice substitute instead of pigging out.

two eggs, a cup of rice and fried chicken I was able to devour in several minutes
right after reaching our convention venue

a cup of rice, fatty corned beef and an egg for breakfast on our first day of the seminar

Just looking at just a portion of what I ate for three days and remembering the other foodies I allowed myself to indulge in is giving me guilty feelings! More so because as a health worker I am aware of the consequences of eating beyond our body's needs. The danger of developing heart ailments as well as endocrine problems and so many other lifestyle diseases must be a constant reminder for everyone to eat well and keep fit.

I am also guilty of having consumed huge slices of cakes for dessert and drinking super sweet beverages for the past days!

a gigantic slice of carrot cake I ate

chocolate cake in all its sinful goodness! I indulged until 3/4 of it was out of sight!
Now I am back to square one in my healthy living plan this year. I have also temporarily stopped exercising because work has eaten up my free time. A lame excuse I know. A good thing before I came home I dropped by the apartment of an old friend who is also a health buff who shared to me benefits of eating miracle rice, a rice substitute such as reducing fat absorption and making one feel full and not craving every now and then for food as well as preventing constipation. I laughed at her at first thinking she must have been joking about finally getting serious about achieving her ideal body weight. But when her facial expression seemed truly stern without her even blinking I knew she meant what she was saying. She has three kids while I have two and that means we must do everything to keep ourselves physically strong to raise them properly. We laughed at how much working out we need to do to achieve our goal yet both agreed it is doable!

We can do it! We know you can too!
