The Shores Restaurant, La Jolla Shores, CA

The Shores Restaurant, located in La Jolla Shores, typifies California lifestyle of beach-style dining. The servers are very friendly, though the service is a little bit slow because maybe they want you to enjoy the view outside and the meal. We do not go here when we are really hungry. Whenever we really have a need to eat right away, we walk just a few blocks away from beach side dining to the line of restaurants in Avenida de la Playa.

The Shores Restaurant's dining room faces the beach. From your table, you can watch people drive their cars to the beach to the drop their kayaks, and also watch surfers, kayakers, beach-combers and many birds in flight.
Because it takes them a longer time to serve the food, they usually serve us the bread first. By the time they serve us our meal, we already feel full from the bread. :)
My favorite in the restaurant is crispy skin sea bass,
Crispy Skin Sea Bass
Sorry, I had eaten most of the vegetables already
however, unlike crispy skin salmon, the sea bass is only seasonal. Their serving is very small, so that everyone will have room for several courses. :)

Waldorf Salad - $13 (available during lunch only)
chicken, grapes, walnuts, green apple, lettuce and green goddess dressing )

Brick Pastry Wrapped Butterfish - $16 during lunch, $21 during dinner
(with butternut squash, roasted tomatoes, brussels sprouts and wild ramp pesto)
The butterfish taste very good, and the ramp pesto is awesome. It's something I wish I know also how to make. Though I love the brick pastry wrapped butterfish entree, but I still would stick to crispy sea bass skin as my favorite in the restaurant.
The Shores Restaurant is located at 8110 Camino Del Oro. You can also check their menu at The Shores Restaurant website.

  1. oh am geeeeeeeee, how can we go on a diet with all our food posts? lol! soooooo tempting! i'd love to have the waldorf salad, sea bash and butterfish! this place reminds me of Cafe Cartel. there's a free flow of bread that makes you half-full by the time your order arrives.
