Our Family Trip to Mammoth Lake, California

Once a year, we take a couple of days off work to spend some family time.  With our children growing fast, time is running out and one day it would be very hard to get them to go with us. So while we can, we make sure to spend a lot of time with them.  This trip was one of the best trips we had, perfect weather and fun for the whole family.

There is so much to do in Mammoth Lake, one weekend is not enough to explore the whole place, but good enough to enjoy the sight and have a relaxing weekend with the family.

The Devil's Postpile

View unique six-sided rock formations. Columns of basalt formed 100,000 years ago. 18 miles from Mammoth Lakes, about 40 minutes drive. An easy half-mile hike from the Devils Postpile trailhead to view the Postpile.

The Lake

Take a gondola ride to the top of Mammoth Mountain and enjoy 360 degree views from the Top of the Sierra. Breeze down wildflower-adorned slopes, traverse moderate fire roads or ride a river cut canyon from end to end.

Another great way to see Mammoth's backcountry is by horseback. A 2-hour ride that takes you to Heart Lake in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, passing by a historic gold mine and mining camp. Other favorites include the guided rides along Convict Lake, McGee Canyon, Rock Creek and Red's Meadow. Relax and enjoy the Sierra scenery while the horses do what they love. For a real old west experience you can be a working cowboy on a horse drive during the spring & fall seasons.

The San Joaquin River tumbles over an abrupt 101-foot drop, sending rainbows of color into the mist. 3 miles past Devils Postpile to the Rainbow Falls trailhead. 1½-mile moderate hike from the Rainbow Falls trailhead to view the falls.

There are a lot of places to rent  in Mammoth - hotels, motels, resorts, condo. What I like about the place we found was they are pet-friendly.  The condo has the softest bed I had ever laid on and they are very comfortable. The pillows, blankets and towels are top of the line, they are new and they smell so clean. They have all the supplies we needed and all the equipment we wanted. We can really tell how much they wanted to make every stay of their guests a comfortable one.

Please check PeachSuite.com, they are hotel bathroom supplies & restaurant supply company.  They are  committed to providing high quality hotel supplies and hotel equipment at a great value.  They also provide hotel product supplies and catering supplies.

PeachSuite Wholesale Hotel Supply & Restaurant Equipment Company  provide services for customers in the hotel, resort, bed and breakfast, restaurant, catering, and health care industries.

YES !! even cottonball had a great time in Mammoth Lake !

As much as we enjoy dining out when we are on vacation, my family also like me to serve them their favorite egg and friedrice breakfast.

    1. Hey, thanks !!! Wow, your family is growing - welcome to Junpeow !!! I almost got another dog the other day. A neighbor knocked on our door with a dog that looks like cottonball, she found the dog and thought it was ours. I wanted to ask her to leave me the dog, but then I thought, I don't have much time for cottonball, how much more I can give with the other one. So I let them go.

Nice to see you and nice to hear from you sis !!!!
