In a Few Days

Me, Dreaming :)

In a few days
I will be in another paradise
And will soon be realizing one of my dreams
To meet, to laugh with, to share moments,
to jump in joy, to celebrate moments of togetherness
to celebrate friendship
to celebrate sisterhood,
to celebrate the joys of finding each other
working together
to keep this site running
though how hard it may be
with all our busy schedules
yet the friendship
yes the friendship
had keep this site running, flowing

Zach's car collection and Tampa Used Cars

My nephew Zach loves his toy cars so much! And yes like his dad he loves seeing cars passing by and would stay with his dad at the garage while he fixes their car. He would sit with his dad too when searching online for car stuff and browsing for trucks, tampa used cars, Ford F150, SUVs and never gets bored.

Bitter melon Omelette

Bitter melon Omelette with soy Sauce fried Rice and Chicken and spinach sausage
One of my favorite vegetables is bitter melon. It can be prepared in a variety of ways, and when I got here in US, I have learned more ways of preparing bitter melon from other cuisines such as Indian, Vietnamese and Chinese. However, my favorite preparation of bitter melon is still the same bitter melon omelette that my late mom used to make for us.

On Staying Healthy and Blue Shield

This post brought to you by © Blue Shield of California. All opinions are 100% mine.

Yesterday I met up with a friend and we had such a great time. The moment we saw each other we started laughing and all  my cares in the world seem to have flown. She was having a sore throat and even found it hard to breathe at times but she just kept laughing each time and kept asking me whether I was okay and I was like, "I am okay," and then we'd burst into a fit of laughter once more. Truly  a hearty laughter is the best medicine. If it doesn't work it is time to consult the experts and listen to their advice. Health is wealth and we shouldn't take sickness for granted. I just found a cool way to help one stay fit, Blue Shield of California's dynamic duo a non profit company offers easy access to alternative care like chiropractors and acupuncture as well as access to great doctors and a wide range of affordable health plans. I was thrilled to have found Dr. Jim and Bob's Fun & Helpful Health Advice on facebook. Dr. Jim and Bob shares funny informative videos on health topics like colds, diarrhea, burns, hiccups, heartburn, lactose intolerance and some things we might be too shy to ask help about like plantar warts and many others.

Hpnotiq and Sisterhood

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hpnotiq for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

My hubby's only sister is turning a year older next week! She's been staying with us for the past three months since the hubby is training her to follow suit in his career. I am glad she is with us because having no sister of my own and having lived with mostly boys all my life I finally have someone around I could talk to about girly stuff. She loves watching modelling shows on television and gee she got me hooked too! There was this episode where a contestant had such a hard time focusing on posing while on a photo shoot at a tower in Macau and that threw us both into a fit of laughter because like the fear stricken girl we also are afraid of heights!

Yesterday we walked around the city window shopping for what I am obsessed with these days- earrings! I promised to treat her to a hair down music up! all girl's night out as the hubby is so strict with her and that seems to be taking away all the fun at her age. I found just the perfect site for our Friday night plan. Hpnotiq   with their Primp & Prep online site featuring hot new cocktail recipes, tips on hair-styling; nail art; choosing the right kind of shoes to go with one's outfit and so many other girly stuff I so love discussing with my sis-in-law.

The site is simply  perfect as they also have a Pandora music player, sounds that make one move and dance. Have I mentioned she is my jogging buddy for the past days and during our early morning tour around town we'd play music to keep our not too slow, not too fast pace. While inside the car with the hubby the other day and passing by a popular Friday night hang out I casually asked the hubby whether my sis-in-law and I could go there sometime and my sis-in-law was quick to say "Yes we could because I am going to be of legal age to drink!"

The hubby and I both laughed and said "You must be 21 years or older to drink alcoholic beverages and as always remember to drink responsibly." There's this drink recipe from the Hpnotiq site I really would love to try, "Midnight Kiss" whew sounds fun!

I seriously texted the hubby yesterday saying "daddy I'm drunk," he called me up at once and said in a loud tone "where are you?" I said,"just practicing!" I just love how he sounded so alarmed and concerned. The perks of being a girl. But nope I will never get really drunk because I am responsible and there is a younger woman I have to set an example for. Yet, we girls are entitled to some fun and Hpnotiq is the perfect site to make our Friday nights awesome! Can't wait! Check out the site and join the fun!

Blue Bird @ Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, CA
While hiking, I saw this bird flew in on the tree, seeing its color, I know I should not miss taking a photo of it for my blue loving TSS sister, Zenserly. Because I do not usually bring my zoom lens when hiking ( too heavy to carry for hiking), I know I had to get closer to the bird to get a decent picture. I usually take a picture first from afar just in case the bird will fly away with my motion to get closer. Thankfully, this bird was very well behaved as I was inching closer. When I finally got closer to take a picture ( not that close since I have a 18-105 mm lens ), I saw his eyes staring at me intently as if angry. Silently, I told him, "please blue, don't be mad, someone out there across the globe will be very happy seeing you!" Then, imagined it may be, this blue bird softened it gaze, well maybe :) I did not get a smile from him, but am sure, those eyes smile :)

Lovely blue! And here is another blue from the blue waters at Point Lobos.

Soon, I will be taking photos not only of blue, but with blue!! Life is sweet!! :)

Dreaming of Luxury Real Estate from Miami Beach to Palm Beach

Last night, the hubby and I slept inside a tent on our front lawn. We had a perfect view of the stars and the radiant moon and the cool breeze entered the tent's  screen lulling me to dreamland. We had a comfortable foam underneath us and the smell of newly cut green grass set a romantic mood.

It was not long though before the hubby noticed that the net zipper had a gap and allowed few mosquitoes to enter making us uncomfortable hahaha. We took turns trying to fix the zipper and testing our patience and endurance. We surrendered in no time and allowed nature to take its course and just pulled our blanket up to our heads to do away with the insects. The thought of insects biting me though didn't bother me much but alien abduction did as I saw the moonbeams. The hubby kept asking me to go to sleep when I took out my netbook and connected to our wifi browsing for Regalia condos and dreaming of living near the ocean for a change having lived at the neck of the woods for several years. I am not sure whether the sound of the waves last night was really loud that I dreamed of swimming and running barefooted on sand or whether this imagination is just too wild at times.

Luxury oceanfront condos at one Bal Harbour could be found with ease at the website of Seaside Properties Group at Douglas Elliman a luxury real estate company in South Florida. Their site is a great source for luxury oceanfront condos and estates I've been dreaming of. They offer quality and exceptional service and feature luxury real estate from Miami Beach to Palm Beach. Both buyers and sellers could have access to data on the most desirable places to live, work and play and could register for listing updates. Buyers could quickly narrow down  a search for the entire South Florida coast to find that perfect neighborhood and a place to call home. Sellers could take advantage of a wide reaching marketing connection. Being a photo enthusiast I am personally amazed at the wonderful shots of oceanfront real estates showcased like Luxury Oceanfront condominiums in Bal Harbour, Florida   that I could stare at the shots the whole day and get that relaxing feeling that only the blue oceans could provide.

Tonight we will be sleeping inside our room and dreaming of the ocean. A camping by the sea sounds like a great idea. The thought that home is where the heart is makes me happy and content.

Dreams could become reality when we work for them.

Charged with a Criminal Offense?

There are moments in life when our spur of the moment decisions lead us to the most complicated and terrifying situations. Being in a scenario where an officer questions us could lead us to panic and compromise ourselves. When you think you or a loved one is going to be charged with a criminal offense do not hesitate, call!

There are lawyers like a Cincinnati Criminal Lawyer who could give you much needed guidance and advice. Law Offices of Scott A. Rubenstein comprised of esteemed lawyers who have been practicing for years and dedicated to safeguarding their clients' rights could be easily contacted for a variety of legal issues like misdemeanor and felony cases, domestic violence, sex crimes, drug offenses, property or theft crimes or what our younger family members could find themselves into- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVI) which in the state of Ohio is considered a serious offense with harsh legal consequences when you or your loved one is convicted so a Cincinnati OVI Lawyer is a professional whose contact number is best saved on our phones.  It is such a relief to know that before charges are filed the law office could review a case, find mitigating factors for clients affecting how the case is charged advantageously.

When we are confident that we have access to a knowledgeable, dedicated and experienced Cincinnati Attorney like Scott A. Rubenstein, we could enjoy life's simple pleasures like staring at a flower and marvelling at its exquisite color and be secure that if needed, we will have the best legal representation. Check out their site and save that vital number.

Quality Hotel Supplies and Celebrations

A child turning one is an occasion that every mom and dad look forward to. Parenthood is a blessing that inspires one to provide the best for his kids. The joy of twelve months watching one's baby grow healthily is worth celebrating with family and friends with the best Hotel Catering Supplies. I attended a niece's first birthday celebration around a week ago at a resort-hotel where young and old alike had fun playing, singing and of course eating and enjoying the warmth that only the love of family could provide.

The pink cake with all its girly design and cartoon character inspired theme looked too beautiful to slice for me. The pink Hotel Supplies , balloons, pink shirts that several guests and hotel staff were wearing and kiddie music all reminded me of childhood memories when a balloon escaping my grip and flying up in the air broke my heart but icing on my lips vanishes the sadness in a flash. Life seemed oh so simple then.

The pool was so inviting for night swimming and my younger son begged me to allow him to enjoy the water but he had class the next day so I told him we will visit the place owned by a former student of mine some other time. We briefly chatted about hotel management, hotel supplies and the ins and outs of the business. PeachSuite Hotel Supply is a hotel supply store that offers practically everything necessary for  great hotel, restaurant, resort maintenance like catering, dining, disposable items, equipment, hotel furniture, janitorial items, bar supplies as well as signs, clearance items and many more which are conveniently searched for at their site where ordering is a breeze as well as shipping requests are facilitated with the best price and even discount. It is a one stop for one's hotel supply needs from linen to electronics and more committed to providing quality service to customers.

Don't you just love cupcakes with such enticing designs? I ate the one with my niece's name though I tried hard enough not to take a bite because it looked so pretty to destroy with my teeth. I love hotels and restaurants with great baking and kitchen goodies a product of great equipment and supply.

As a child I loved it when I had many gifts. As an adult I have come to realize that the best thing ever is the love of family and friends and celebrations at places that offer the best to bring out the goodness in us all.

My Close Encounter with a Super Woman

As a blogger, we don't just blog. We make friends - virtual and otherwise. And one of the benefits of blogging is finding true friends.

That is why when I joined The Salitype Society, it is not surprising that when got the chance to meet in person some of the TSS Sistahs, we instantly "clicked".

I am not in a mission to go all over the world and meet all bloggers I meet online. But I do dream to meet in person some who truly inspire me. Because I had to admit that there are quite a handful who doesn't just blog or who blog just for money [wink*] but most of those bloggers who became my friends are people with big hearts and who inspired me in many ways one can never imagine. Zenserly or Zen or Kulasa as we fondly call her - is one of them.

Kulasa is a dedicated doctor by profession. A loving wife to Kulas. A very understanding mom to Francis and Roel. A sweet daughter. An awesome sister. A big-hearted humanitarian. And a true friend.

But afar from what she is as a human being and a respected person in a society, she also leads a second life. [This she doesn't know this till now or probably she knew but in denial. LOL] Zen is a photography enthusiast. An out-of-control Blogger. And a Facebook addict. [wink]. The last one being probably the undiagnosed cause of her chronic insanity and non-life threatening  facebookitis that causes sleepless nights and other symptoms too many to mention in one post. LOL

Zen and I have been friends since I joined TSS. She is the sister I wished I had who I know will cover my a$$ when I get into trouble. She is funny and there is never a dull moment when I talk to her. She is witty and smart and sweet and above all A SUPER WOMAN without the bling-blings.

Yes, I finally met the Super Woman Zen in blue suit last summer in the Philippines and had a blast catching up with all stories that we left out at facebook. It was such a wonderful experience since we didn't have to type what we need to say to each other. And most of all we chatted over a hearty meal of lechon kawali [pan-roasted pork belly],
  inihaw na manok [grilled chicken],

and pinakbet [sautéed veggies with shrimp paste]
It was a lovely meeting by the beach. Too bad it was short and brief because it was late and I had to go back to my hometown the following day. Maybe next time I visit, we will get the chance to get-together again and bond longer or surf a couple of waves. wink**

Zen... thank you very much for the friendship. Happy Birthday. I love you Super Woman.

Roses and the Miracle of Growing Love

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Feelings could be best expressed through flowers. Red roses say "I love you" louder than a voicebox could. Those vividly colored petals with a sweet scent that mesmerizes the heart would be such a joy to have in the garden the whole year through. Seeing and smelling them could be akin to growing love in the air.

I just got inspired to grow more of them by Gardenieres who have the greenest of thumbs and most experienced when it comes to growing plants. The Rose bush pruning and Rose bush training to a garden trellis creating a lovely garden centerpiece by Gina Iliopoulos, the Midwest Gardeniere has given me a marvelous plan for Roses to serenade visitors with Roses hanging over a pathway beautifully adorning and perfuming the garden. Her tips on handling the Roses like keeping the cuttings which one will do away with in one corner instead of scattered to prevent injury made me realize how careless I was in the past. I also learned that there are products like Miracle-Gro ® Garden Soil for Trees and Shrubs and that its continuous Release plant food is great for Roses and feeds them for up to three months.

                   (1) Miracle-GroAdvertisement

These awesome gardening tips and more could also be found when you "like" the Miracle-Gro Facebook page where we have the chance of interacting with fellow plant lovers. Viewing plant lovers' posts at the site both photos and their enthusiastic ideas is making me want to plant not only Roses but all kinds of flowering bushes as well as vegetables and trees! It's the best season to start our dream yard and getting to cherish the beauty of nature right in our homes to Find beauty in the Fall.

May love grow in your homes abundantly.

My Second Experience of Hong Kong

The last time I was in Hong Kong was this summer. And the only place I visited was – the airport. I was on my connecting flight home after 5 years of being away. Though the first time I visited HK was in 1997 with my BFFs. It was the very first trip abroad that I took. This time, my experience with HK was somewhat eventful. I was held up for interrogation by the airport security!
Yes, you heard it right. The x-ray machine showed that I had a “pepper spray” in my purse and it alerted the security at the airport. I was given a chair and immediately the airport cops were called for further interrogation. It took more or less an hour of questioning and paper works. Pepper spray is in HK’s list of illegal stuff that shouldn’t be in your luggage or purse when you enter HK. I wasn’t smart enough to research on that or ask my brother Gary who works in Hk-China about things like that.

Well, things went well. I signed paper and was warned not to bring anything illegal anymore. I didn’t feel bad because I know that HK people are just doing their job. I feel secured knowing that any Hong Kong flights will be safe and secured because those airport security is doing a great job to protect their country and its safety.
With my BFFs during our first trip to Hong Kong in 1997

So if you are planning to take a trip to HongKong put in your to do list to check and research about what and what not to bring to HK so you will not have the same experience as I had. Hong Kong is a lovely city. I wanted to go back there and spend time touring its city not just its airport. And since my brother Gary is already a resident it will be more fun to explore the city with a free tourist guide.

Take it from me, Hong Kong is one of the best places on earth. So go ahead visit Hong Kong, you will surely enjoy it!

It's a "Cher"rific Day

It’s a “Cher”rific day to make wishes for someone who inspires us here at salitype each day….

To give more than to receive…
To live and love life with the strongest faith thus having the sweetest twist of fate
To be the perfect mother, wife, sister and daughter
A friend who thinks of us from across the miles
Each minute, each second of the day that no matter
How difficult and stressful life could sometimes be
Her dimples magically send us smiles to make it through the day….
Toothfairy we wish you all the best….

From North to South and East to West….
May your cheerfulness paint a RAINBOW in whose end lies a golden chest

Halo-Halo is a dessert famous in the Philippines during the summer season. A sweet mixture of shaved ice, evaporated milk and boiled fruits such as jackfruit, beans, banana, sweet potato, coconut preserve and any fruit in season. I love eating it under the heat of the sun.

On Keeping the Family Fit and Nopalea Healthy Drink

The other week, a break from work allowed me to spend time with the hubby and the kids. We had a grand time dining out and feasting on our favorite dishes at local restos! The hubby's favorite, braised noodles and siomai at our favorite Chinese restaurant left him with a huge smile and a challenge for me to cook them at home. You might want to wish me luck on that.

Hot chocolate touching my tongue early in the morning is a perfect moment for me. Matched with pancakes and some bread and jam I am all set to conquer the day.

Dessert is what the kids love most as expected. Show them chocolate mousse and strawberry crepe and their cheeks instantly glow. Though we treat them to sweet goodies once in a while we always remind them that we must maintain a healthy lifestyle.

How I love to live long and strong to see the kids all grown up with families of their own. I would love in the future to carry my grandchildren on my shoulders and to run after them. The unavoidable stress at work  makes us lose energy at times and the hubby and I would sometimes complain of  feeling old and we're not yet even forty! We would take turns massaging each other's sore muscles and laugh at ourselves for not being experts at it and end up tickling each other instead; the joys and simple pleasures of a happy married life. We search endlessly for tasty treats to ease our pains because sometimes, to be free of pain, love just ain't enough.
Nopalea is a tasty drink from the fruit of the Nopal cactus (Opontia Ficus India) with healing properties which have been used for centuries by native people. It is an immune booster with not only anti-inflammatory but also anti-toxin activity and seems to keep the brain protected. I would most certainly love to have a sharp memory and none aching joints to sit long enough one day to tell wonderful tales to little kids running around our home who would pay attention once their young looking grandma calls out their names. There's this Nopalea wellness challenge the hubby and I would love to try. The free 32 ounce bottle of this delicious healthy drink with minimal shipping and handling fee sounds exciting.

Surfing is what I will try next when my aching back is well! It has been on my "to-do-list" for a long time now and you bet, I will convince the hubby to join!
