Making the deck bearable in this hot summer weather

Guest post written by Stacy Clarkson

In years past we've spent a lot of our time during the summers out on the deck. We have a nice dining set out there where we eat a lot of our meals just as a nice little change. Plus, by the time dinner time rolls around, it's normally cooled off enough for that. But not this summer. It seems like it's just been so much hotter than usual!

A few weeks ago, I decided that it would be good to get an umbrella to put out there for some extra shade. While I was browsing some online, I stumbled on the sitehttp://WWW.HOMEPROimprovement.com. We've been considering getting a new roof, so I was glad to do that and we decided to use the site for it.

I eventually found a deck umbrella and we just got it set up on our deck. I'm so glad that we have it and we have been able to use the space more because of it. I just wish that I had the umbrella idea earlier this summer!

  1. rog, teyla and i were shopping for mulch at lowe's in town a few weeks ago when we saw this awesome green/white striped giant deck umbrella! fell in love with it immediately:) unfortunately, it was beyond our budget (we had to buy A LOT of mulch that day), so we ended up not buying it, and anyway, the summer is almost over, so looks like we will try to get it next summer instead. yes, stacy, i agree with you. deck umbrellas do help a lot in providing extra shade and allowing us to use outdoor areas - such as out on the deck - in very warm conditions that we otherwise would not use if we had to sit out there under direct sunlight. congratulations on your new beach umbrella, stacy! i do hope we get ours by next spring, too, so that we can make good use of it all summer:)

  2. I remember the hubby wanting to buy a huge deck umbrella too. One would really be great in our place. Thanks for sharing Stacy! :-)
