Furnishing Our Patio

In 2002, our family moved into our new house. We only had our clothes, a few boxes of kitchen utensils, and some old furniture. For the first few months we were embarrassed to invite friends and family to visit because it looked so empty. Every paycheck we would save a little to purchase furniture. We started with our bedroom furniture first and then we furnished the kitchen purchasing a kitchen table and chairs and bar stools for the counter.
The family room was Jeff's favorite as we purchased what he called football watching chairs, but I still refer to them as “Lazy Boys” with a matching couch, end tables, and a coffee table. When the house was furnished we started furnishing our back patio. We were very fortunate some friends told us about Adirondack chairs which are very popular for decks, patios and in any outdoor setting. It made our job so much easier. Our house has a huge back patio with a pool and outside bar with a built in grill.

We furnished it with Picnic Tables and chairs accompanied with matching umbrellas. We purchased outside bar stools for our patio bar and chair floaters for the pool. We have a small secluded rose garden which is now complimented with new love seats that are similar to Park Benches. It is so relaxing to end a hard day in this garden. All the planning, designing and purchasing of our new furniture went smoothly. Once the last delivery arrived we invited our family and friends over for a pool party and BBQ. I even heard Jeff talking about a Super Bowl Party with the addition of a playground equipment. In reflection to all of the purchases, planning, and coordination I believe it would have never been as successful without tips from friends.

  4. bud, it was interesting to read about how your family had very little stuff when you first moved into your new home. and then how, through the years, you bought the furniture and appliances you needed, bit by bit:) i have seen a couple recent pictures of your home, and the pieces you picked are beautiful indeed and perfectly compliment the colors and other decors in your home. And i know you guys love to entertain, too, so that's awesome that you heard about the popular Adironback chairs. i bet they are sturdy and look perfect on your patio and along the pool! my wish is the my family and i can come to one of your barbecues one of these years:) i know teyla will clap her hands in delight and laugh out loud when she sees your adorable Cottonball standing so alert and looking so cute on that bright yellow flotation device in your pool:) he's such a gorgeous dog, buddy! please give him a big bear hug from me and teyla:) i had fun reading this post!
