An Ode to Happiness

poem by Carmen

I am a free spirit, beautiful and warm.
I will thrust to the horizon with a zestful attitude.
I will greet anyone with a caring smile.
I will tease around playful souls.
I will be a shelter for those who’ve lost their way home.
I will dance to the rhythm of my heartbeat.
I will sing my soulful longings, joys and pains.
I will embrace him who would long for me.
I will kiss with a fire-like consuming.
I will snatch back my laughter in midst of trouble.
I will let tears fall like rain.
I will hold tight to the unseen hand that is always there.
I will travel on to this journey brave and bold.
Here and now,
I will breath-in life like it is my most precious gift.
I will glorify The source of all my inspirations…
by giving my best shot ...
by quietly walking my path
by graciously sharing to the world
all of me…
and all the best I could be.

  1. thanks a lot Carmen for sharing your free spirited poem to us, I love every words here, every line. A carefree spirit, filled with glee and inner joy, no pretensions, facing each day graciously the best as she can be! I still remember our WWC days, and those joyful smiles, eyes beaming with happiness never left my memory, the poem so speaks of you Carmen, and thanks for thinking that my jumping picture represents that happiness too :)

  5. Beautiful poetry, Carmen! You are indeed all these and more! In the short -but very precious- time that we have known each other, I have learned so much from you. Your life indeed is an open book of conflicting emotions. You are a multi-faceted gem that shines amidst adversity! It is such a joy to know you, girl! I am wishful of those days when we can freely banter! How you made us laugh with your beautiful personality and made us cry with the depth of your writing! I long for those days, dear friend! I..yearn! Am glad you're back.. I hope for good! *hugs Kurdapya*

  6. what a beautiful poem, carmen! and i recognize beth's silhouette in that spectacular beach shot:) i consider myself a free spirit as well, that's why this poem appealed to me so much. your words echoed your passion for life. i found that super inspiring! i agree- LIFE is indeed our most precious gift. and just like you said, each of us should share to the world all we have, and be the best that we can be!:) kudos for one of the most inspiring poems i have ever read, carmen!

  7. this is why i will never leave this circle of wonderul, amazing friends...you are my treasures too, my inspirations...and i couldn't thank you all enough...

betchai sort of pulled me out of my creative coma...overwhelmed of the changes that happened to me, my writing took a back seat...my own blog site now looks like a chaotic jungle, spams are sprouting everywhere...and much as i wanted to clean it up...i can't seem to find the energy...

and so when betchai suggested if i could contribute a piece here in our site...i jumped in to that opportunity...and grabed my chance...

"an ode to happiness" is one of my favorite poems never before published anywhere else, not even on my blog...i had it printed in one of my pictures and used to hang it on my wall...it served as my own guide to just humbly get through with my days, no matter what...

i personally requested betchai to compliment the poem with her jump shot beach photo (i saw it first from one of her blog posts)...i love this picture...it's an expression of marvelling over the wonders of nature, defying gravity and just having that triumphant moment of feeling absolutely free...

dear friends, thanks for appreciating this simple piece of work...it's ours!

    (yakap!)

  10. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you have done a amazing job with this. In addition, the blog loads super quick for me on Firefox. Excellent Blog!
