childhood memories

walking down the memory lane
i heard a laughter, it rings a bell
a familiar scent, that well known grin
such wondrous memories of yesteryears

of all mornings, weekend brings delight
i can play with friends from morn till dusk
no homework, no chores, no worries at all
when the tummy crumbles, its time to head home

evening brings chaos to a household full of kids
squabbles can erupt from petty matters, indeed
whose turn to wash the dishes, tidy all the mess
they're all for Voltes V while i, for Mazinger Z

i got few scratches and scars to bear true
childhood is the time to explore the world around you
climbed few trees and got stung by what have you
but, i'll do it all again, never doubt i'll do

alas, the years has caught with us
i live my life and so the others does
but through the years i kept alive
memories of childhood forever in my heart

p.s.... this was inspired by another poem - young friendship - i wrote years ago. the first and the last stanzas were lifted from that poem. since, it was also based on childhood memories, thought i better write few lines of the same topic and merged them together.

  1. We could not wait to grow up when we were a kid, but always thinking of childhood memories after we get older and older.
