When I was young, I only get to eat strawberries once in a blue moon so I always remind my daughter how blessed she is because she can have stawberries anytime she craves for it. We are just 5-minute walk away from the supermarket that sells huge strawberries from Australia in a very reasonable price. I do encourage my girl to eat two servings of fruits a day. She has sweet tooth just like her dad, luckily we don't have a chocolate fountain at home to defeat the purpose of eating fresh fruits. :)

The Girl By the Window

I thought I had it all, a beautiful family, a wonderful job a lot of good friends and so much more, I never thought that one day I'd feel so alone, scared and lonely. That day came...and I forgot all about how I'd excitedly wake up each day and say "hello" to every God's masterpiece that may come my way. Instead of enthusiastically reaching out to a brand new day I'd say hello to the cold and shivery mornings instead. I'd dreadfully sigh and looked outside my window hoping that somehow I can bring back the hands of time...

One day as I was writing one of my sad stories online I've noticed that an old friend left me a comment on my previous entry. I was delighted. One full sentence and it changed every bit of my sad little world...I was then inspired to write more instead of staring blankly at an empty window...and she'd leave another message or two...and right there she opened the gates of The Salitype Mansion for me. Ate Zen as I call her made me realize that somehow when the Lord closes a door a tiny window is always open for me to somehow reach out to the world outside my tiny room.

The Salitype Society has opened so many doors for me. I've met wonderful friends along the way that made me appreciate life more...I've learned that my little window isn't that tiny for me not to see that the world is such a beautiful canvass to be captured and cherished. The Salitype Society made me realize that if you have something wonderful to say share it...There's a lot of beautiful soul out there that never failed to listen. I thank my Salitype sisters for welcoming me always with open arms...These amazing ladies gave me a reason to look forward to another day...They taught me that each day is a new day, a new story, and a new picture to share...It's a new song with a lovely lyrics accompanied with a superb melody and an enchanting tune...

I guess all I wanted to say is...Happy Anniversary to my Wonderful Salitype sisters....Thank you so much for touching my life....

Passion Fruit

passion fruit

I bought these fruits - passion fruits and pomegranate - just this afternoon for a photoshoot. Well, i am in the mood these past few days - still life photography wise. So, like the old saying goes - strike when the iron is hot. I am just giving the pomegranate a day or two to ripen a bit and it will be my next subject. Now, i got to think how to execute it....... hmmnnnn, any ideas?

Friends and waterfalls

To mark The Salitype Society's second anniversary, Rog, Teyla and I recently drove down to Hinton, West Virginia, for a leisurely stroll along the New River Gorge National River and Sandstone Falls.

It hadn't rained in several days before these pictures were taken, which is why the falls and river were not flowing in full force. Still, we found this place lovely and would like to invite you guys to take a little stroll with us along the water's edge, if you care to imagine ...

Teyla is excited and ready to explore the area around Sandstone Falls! Hurry up, guys, and let's follow her lead as she toddles nimbly down the boardwalk.

Oops! Looks like something along the boardwalk caught our little explorer Teyla's eyes. Let's slow down for a while and find out what has caught her attention, shall we? (Didn't someone wise once say, "Don't walk through life so fast, you forget to smell the flowers"? Our version would be, "Don't skip down the boardwalk too fast, you forget to admire the sights and sounds along it." Amazing how much we can learn from these young'uns!)

Now little Teyla is pointing excitedly and talking a mile a minute (in baby-talk, nonetheless), "Look over there, guys! It's the waterfall!"

And sure enough, there it is in the distance, partially obscured by lush trees ... the beautiful Sandstone Falls of Hinton, West Virginia.

We've come to the river's edge now. Let's take a little break, shall we, beside the rushing waters? Come and sit by us on this sturdy rock ledge. There's room for everyone! Don't you all just love the sound of the river flowing by? We do! Such a relaxing sound, almost like a lullaby, I think.

The river's water level is low today, so we're in for a treat! We can walk out to almost the middle of the river - the first time we've ever done this! We better hurry. Rog and Teyla are already way ahead! Can you see them in the distance?

Now it's time to kick off our shoes and join Teyla for a little splash in the cool waters of the New River Gorge River! Oooooh, the water sure feels cool on my feet! Do you like that, too?

OK, just one more group shot on this huge rock in the middle of the river before we head back. One, two, three ... say, "Cheese!" (Not many people get to have their pix taken in the middle of a river, so I guess you could say this is a special, kinda "historic" moment!)

Before we leave the river, let's sit on the rocky shore and take in the serene view ... of trees standing like proud sentries on the hillside facing us, of water splish-splashing over rocks, sometimes roughly, sometimes gently. You know what I was thinking as the camera shot this picture? I was thinking that FRIENDS, in a big way, are like the waters of a river.

Over time, water can shape rocks, cut out whole river beds, and even chip away sandstone to create beautiful waterfalls. In a similar way, FRIENDS, through the years, touch our lives through kind words, thoughtful deeds. They may be near or they may be far - half a world away even. And yet that's how FRIENDS are. They touch our lives somehow and, in the process, they change us.

A few years ago, a handful of individuals met online. Friendships were formed. Bonds grew stronger. Time passed, and just as the waters of the New River Gorge River eventually turned a simple river bed into the breathtaking Sandstone Falls, something beautiful was formed in cyberspace - The Salitype Society.

Thank you for joining my family and I on our trip to Sandstone Falls! We had a lovely time with you all!

Happy 2nd anniversary, Salitype! And thank you for the friendships.

If Friends were Flowers...

If friends where flowers, I'll pick you.
- Anonymous -

About two years ago... different flowers in different colors, shape, sizes, and scents bloomed in a "no-secret-CYBER-garden". They were all beautiful and gorgeous. They possessed different characteristics and charms but they blended together. They all grew in perfect harmony and they bloomed happily... and the rest is history.

“Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.” Tennessee Williams

“One measure of friendship consists not in the number of things friends can discuss, but in the number of things they need no longer mention.” Clifton Fadiman

“True friendship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable.” David Tyson

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one” C.S. Lewis

“Even though we've changed and we're all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we'll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we're not all still friends.” Anonymous

The Salitype Society welcomes you to our garden. This garden could be anywhere in the world. It could be in San Diego and Corona in California... in West Virginia... in Texas... in Maine... in the United Kingdom... in Germany... in Singapore... or in our Motherland, the Philippines. Take your pick because it doesn't matter where you want to go... the flowers are the same. They all came from one soil and were uprooted and grew big and strong where they were re-planted to be able to bring joy to everyone who visits the garden.

Happy 2nd Anniversary to all of us Salitype Society Sistahs. It is indeed a blessing to be a part of our  Garden. Thank you for the friendship.

"Friendship is priceless. There is no tag price attached to it. You don't need to haggle or ask for discount because it is freely given not only to those who worth it but to those who value it." Ruthi Orona-Gregoire

Salitype All Over the World

To celebrate Salitype Society's Second Anniversary, I lifted up "old Salitype photos" from our old group-page in friendster.

Some time ago, before The Salitype Society created their own website here at blogger, we were @ friendster. We often meet in our group page and had fun bantering at the forums and threads. We did this cute activity of posting a photo of our logo placed beside our computer, and we posted each photo (logo and computer) in our Salitype album.  Together with the photo of our logo is our location. This has been particularly FUN because we are scattered all over the world. Remember how much fun we had working on this fun collection?   :)
