Today's Flowers: Artic Snow (Wrightia antidysenterica)




Wrightia is a genus of 23 species of flowering plants in the Apocynaceae (dogbane) family, native to tropical Africa, Asia and Australia. The species are all small trees or shrubs.


The genus was named for William Wright (1735 –1819) the Scottish physician and botanist by William Roxburgh. -Wikipedia

  5. cher, the name "arctic snow" definitely fits this immaculately white flower! i love how it looks so pure ... such a joy to behold!! how i wish i had one of these flowering shrubs in my backyard, and how awesome it would be if someone named a gorgeous bloom such as this after me:) i do hope william wright was still alive when william roxburgh named this beauty after him. if he was, i bet he was absolutely delighted:) i would be! thank you for sharing another exquisite flower photo, cher. what a great way for me to end my day by gazing at another of God's marvelous handiwork, thanks to your gift, cher..
