Our Philippines #1: Featuring... LAGUNA

TODAY'S FEATURED PROVINCE:

- LAGUNA -

I came from Liliw, Laguna. Laguna is one of the provinces in the southern part of Luzon and Liliw is a small town located at the foot of the famous, legendary and magical [as it is called by our ancestors] Mount Banahaw. Liliw is known as the "Slipper Capital of the Philippines" because we make high quality, stylist yet affordable slippers.

The Church of St. John the Baptist Parish... one of the oldest churches in Laguna built in the 1800s when the Spanish Friars came to convert the locals.
One of the stores selling slippers.
One of the store's huge slipper displays during the "Liliw Tsinelas Festival" which is held every summer.

NOTE: Watch out for more post featuring the rest of The Salitype Society members' hometown...soon!"

  12. i didn't know there was a "slipper capital" in the philippines until i read your post, sis ruthi! i find that so interesting and regret that i never went to liliw while i was still back there. the liliw tsinelaw festival sounds like a fun event for tourists to attend. perhaps one of these years when my family returns to the philippines, we can take a trip to your hometown and participate in that festival. for now, i am content to view the lovely pictures of your hometown:) thank you for sharing!
