Over Hot Cups of Coffee...

This afternoon my husband and I agreed to drive along capitol express way and out of nowhere with eyes wide open I just simply said, " honey, why don't we stop at a nearby starbucks coffee shop for awhile?" He smiled and simply said...sure why not honey, I think that's a good idea...and so we did...

As we waited for our favorite hot cups of coffee we just simply sat there...At first we indulge ourselves to the sweet and invigorating smell of that starbucks coffee shop...and finally when a curly guy from the counter called his first name...he flushed his sweetest smile and winked at me as he gladly took our precious hot cups of coffee into his hands...

He enjoyed every breath taking aroma and I must say I excitedly took my time to enjoy every sip from my very own cup...and then we simply looked at each other eye to eye and just like that we started talking as if we've never seen each other for a very long time...

Childhood memories came rushing in...Family picture perfect moments were shared over and over again...Then we started talking about the things that we loved to do when we were still in our younger years...and then a familiar song came along...without thinking we started singing along...he started laughing...and I started giggling...and then we started talking about the future...about us...and about that special afternoon...

AND with just that a few minutes of the longest silent moment passed us by...oh darn...we just had the last sip from our hot cups of coffee...and with just that we both stood up...flashed a sweet smile at each other...hold each others hands...looked at each other and finally he uttered the words, " honey, I guess it's time for us to go home. It had been a lovely afternoon.."

...and with those wonderful words I sighed and finally said, " It was indeed a wonderful afternoon over hot cups of coffee...

  1. Sigh. What coffee did you get? Was it Caramel Macchiato?

  4. That was so sweet Beth, what a lovely afternoon you had with your husband!

I was in Starbucks the other day and there was a couple who just came out of a duty, they were both wearing scrubs and waiting for their coffee. The guy gave the girl a hug and she turned around and kiss the guy - hahahaha talking about "public display of affection". I actually enjoyed watching them - reminded me of when I was much younger.

Every time I go to starbucks, I will remember you and that couple in scrubs !

  6. Isn't it great how something so small like a smell, a food, or even a sound, can bring back childhood memories?
